S.R.D.U. Government Post Graduate College, Manila, Almora came into existence in the year 1989 and got affiliated with Kumaun University on July 24, 1989, vide notification no. 2089/ 28-2-89-5(85)/ 81 Dated 24-07-1989, as a result of persistent demands from the residents of the interior regions of Manila, Almora. It had been named after renowned freedom fighter Late Shree Raghuwar Datt Upadhyay of the region Sult (assembly).
From the year of 2020, the college has been affiliated with Soban Singh Jeena University, Almora on August 27, 2020, vide notification no. 700/XXIV-C-1/2020-01(11)/2018 Dated 27-08-2020 under the Uttarakhand Act No.19 of 2020 after being carved out of Kumaun University, Nainital.
